Either a clog from detergent residue, or perhaps the drawing hose isnt air tight any more. Personally I would recommend getting a hydroforce and prespraying the carpet instead!

Mr. Reyes, as Richard stated;
What you want to do is check the system for an air leak. Its also possible that the pump needs to be rebuilt. This happens for a number of reasons. The pump is old and simply needs rebuilt. Also you clean tile and grout turn the chemical system off, but closing the flow meter on the GPH meter. Chemical systems cannot handle the higher pressures required to clean tile and grout. I wouldn't go over 600 PSI while having the chemical system on.
If you could provide us with the year of the butler, someone here may be able to get you a more specific answer.

the year to my van is 1988 chevy 20 van

I'm having the same problem with my Butler. I have replaced almost every thing and still no luck. Butler techs now tell me that if the chemical flow valve has been tightened to shut off flow, the needle may have been broken off allowing too much back pressure for pump to work. message me in a week and I'll tell you if replacing the valve has worked for me!
