Questions about Trauma and Crime Scene Cleanup

I got a few questions about CSC.

    1) What classes did you take?
    2) How do you advertise crimescene/trauma cleanup?
    3) About how in depth is crime scene cleanup, is there some instances where your actually there at the crime scene when a dead body is there or is it a certain time frame afterwards?

I will be in the following places below, if your in these areas I wouldnt mind hooking up with your business to see what its like.

    Sept 30th - Oct 4th = Atlanta GA
    Oct 4th - Oct 11th = Fort Lauderdale & Miami
    Oct 14th - Oct 18th = Houston TX

    Thanks for any comments.

I read a story in a major mag about crime scene clean up. After the cops are done its the owners responsibility to do what ever with the mess. So as far as i can tell its always private party that pays.

In the story that i read a whacked out new boyfriend called said he was coming over to kill new girlfriend. Boyfriend shows up Mom and daughter go out back door and nut case kills himself (gun to the head) in her bed room. CSC cleans the bed room after.

They used some special chemical mix to disinfect the phone and hang it back up .. i remember thinking .. ahh, for 10 bucks i just get a new phone thanks.

A lot of requirements and regulations. I doubt you will ever be their with a dead body. Usually the body is gone before the cops turn the scene back over to the homeowners.

As far as time frame ... they call when they can and sometimes its WEEK / MONTHS / YEARS AFTER. At some point its better to replace / repaint than clean.

I kinda already did a CSC ... we did this house.

We were talking chat about this ...
Small area to be cleaned .. two areas about size of dollar bills, a few drops along a path to the bathroom and hit some stains in living room on the way out. No biggie.

Tre, I would talk to your local coroner's office and the offices of surrounding counties. I cleaned the carpet for my local coroner a few months back, and posted above his desk in big, bold letters was the name and number of a local firm that does crime scene/trauma clean-up. Just some food for thought.

That is a good point... sometimes it is important to check with forensics before any cleanup is done so that nothing gets contaminated that could be used in some sort of trial as evidence.

Re: Questions about Trauma and Crime Scene Cleanup

I bought a online DVD training system from Amdecon. I thought the training was great.. i have not gotten inot the field... its something I am not looking for, but ready to do if somone has a problem. I also thought it would be good to know just when someone calls about cleaning up blood. I thought Mr. Michael J. Tillman was great and even learned a few things about biz... theres a section in the DVD where an apartment manager calls hims and wants a bid. Tillman says are you looking for bids so you can get the cheepest one. They replied yes and he said i will save you and me the trouble we wont be the cheepest.. I remember that . I thought that was pretty cool...

Boldens has a great course, we only quietly market to police, corner, sherriff's offices....we really dont want a lot of that type of business. They generally wont let you in there until all the C.S.I. stuff is complete, sometimes in a homicide cas they will ask you to save anything you pick up like earings or whatever. Just remember this ain't sunshine cleaners...never put a face on the puddle!

Re: Questions about Trauma and Crime Scene Cleanup

I would strongly recommend getting a hold of Don McNulty Of Bio Cleaning Services of America if you are considering this line of work. He offers a certification course that is fantastic. As far as the marketing, he covers that extensively. The money collected comes from a few different sources, and it is up to you to ask the proper questions and get all the proper paperwork done to ensure payment. DO NOT FORGET the clearance from the police department. I can not stress enough the importance of good record keeping. Most people do not know that in a majority of cases the home insurance will cover the clean up under an all parrell clause. The exception I have run into is some rental properties. Not a job for the squeamish. This job is about taking care of the family you are working for much more then how much money you can make doing it. Yes, it is a very profitable business, but anyone doing it needs to be doing it for the right reasons. I have about 10 years in this line of work and would be happy to answer any questions. My email is ghlemke@cableone.net.

Re: Questions about Trauma and Crime Scene Cleanup

There are actually dozens of pathogens and diseases that can be transmitted through blood and bodily fluids during the crime scene cleanup process. It is important that crime scene clean up is performed by professionals to make sure the scene is cleaned and disinfected to prevent hazardous exposure to people.
