Do you think Rhino lining is better than Herculiner? Or do you think it is basically the same product? Also, is it true that the entire surface needs to be sanded down and prepped prior to applying the product?

Rhino Lining is going to be better than the Herculiner and Line-X will be better than both. Generally speaking the two part polyurethane liners are going to be much, much thicker and tougher once applied. The RL and Line-X require special two chamber sprary guns to mix the resin and hardener at the spray orifice and consequently a high volume compressor. The Herculiner can be rolled on and won't be nearly as thick after you have applied the recommended two coats. Both the Rhino Lining and the Line-X are expensive and the Line-X is from my understanding less slippery and has a lifetime warranty that is honored nationwide at any of its franchise locations.

I have the Rhino and love it - it also goes 24" up each side of the van walls and there is a 2" "lip" at the front near the front seats to stop the water from going up front. The water drains down in to the wells at the barn doors.
As for which is best - sorry not sure - only had this one.

I have the Rhino too... I like it better then others i used in the pass.

Line-x is the best i tried rhino and others and they just don't hold up like line x

It's 100% in the prep work. I worked for 5 years in Jeep and truck aftermarket and I have applied my fair share of both. I've seen some shady line-x shops that do a quick spray of water to rinse dirt off the bed and apply the coat (mine started peeling in less than a year). On my new truck I prepped the bed myself and used herculiner (same stuff you buy at pepboys) and it's lasted 3 years now(also done more than a few customer's jeep bodies like that). i would recommend even if you are going to take it somewhere to powerwash the area your going to have coated, and then mop it with a strong degreaser (anything from purple power to highly concentrated dish washing detergent will work) and let it dry. Sanding isn't really necessary as the degreaser should take most the clear coat off and give the liner a good base to stick to.
