    Cool A/C Problem-free fix

Have a 2000 Ford, A/C would blow cold then hot then cold etc. Free fix, check the gap between the compressor pulley and the clutch plate. Should be .020-.035". If .050-.070, the clutch is worn but not ruined and it is disengaging. Remove 8mm bolt from center of clutch, pull clutch straight out, remove shim (washer), put clutch back in and tighten 8mm bolt. Check clearance again. probably be between .020-.035 and clutch won't slip/disengage and it's fixed. Took 10 minutes. Dealer wants to replace whole clutch or compressor ($$$).
