Any rinse agent should be fine.... But I always use prespray! Some do not need as much as others but I still use them.

Even for mildly dirty carpers i'd use a prespray, it pretty much does most of the work. I'm very biased towards Prochem products, but i'd use 'prespray gold' (ph8) and then put 'extraction pro' (ph9) or 'fibre and fabric rinse' (ph4?) through depending on the carpet fibres.

Liquid Formula 90 by Chemspec works great.

when the carpet is clean i use any sample product, or something did not work for nasty carpets!

If you are looking to skip the prespray step on mildly soiled carpet (It will save time but like the others above I don't like doing this becuase you loss some cleaning ability.) I suggest White Lightning for maximum cleaning power and economic cost.

A liquid form of cleaning solution would do less harm to your pump than an improperly mixed powdered form.
Regardless I always run fresh clean water thru my pump after every use and a mix of vinegar and water once or more per month. "Preventative Maintenance ".
I pre spray all . Less on mildly soiled areas-heavier and/or higher ph solution on nasty area. If its really clean to begin with I will skip agitation or manually rake instead of using 175.

I have used many brands of chemicals in my portables. It matters to some extent what kind of heat
you are working with! Of course Jim I know what you are using(a 2HT propane 65000btu heater) which
generally maintains 200 degrees. Bridgepointe Point Blue seems to me to be an all around great powder.
I have also used Bridgepointe Fiber Plus which for me did an excellent job on residential carpets. The ph
is only 7.5 yet as I remember it has some solvents built in that make it cut through difficult soil. It left
the carpet residue free with a good hand feel!
Bane-Clene Formula 5 is a great chemical too for all around kind of detergent. You would also want to
add Banes Booster to this product. It doesn't change ph or anything . Basically it helps soften the water
which helps in many hard water areas of the country.
Naturally you are familar with Cross-Americans products which are consistently good . Particularly the
Attack prespray is excellent yet works well on very soiled carpets with a ph of less than 9.
