Question Small urine stains on wool rugs

I have a wool rug that has small urine stains from a small dog. About 6 of them. The rug is almost new and they want it cleaned and deodorized. I was wondering since i am not going to pit clean it how I should pretreat, clean and post treat the stains. Any suggestions? I had one similar that would not clean up and so I used a urine out product to remove the urine but also lightened the color just slightly. I am pretty sure that the urine out products are hydrogen peroxide. Do anyone know what concentration the peroxide is? And can I cut it to use it on the urine stains?

Test the urine out product AFTER your cleaning (the wash may lessen the problem some). If you are worried that it is too strong for the rug - then WET the area first before you apply it, this will slow down the reaction.

If this is a CHEMICALLY WASHED rug - the tips of the fibers will be much more faded than the base of the fibers - then you need to be very careful with any spot removers. 2-part products like this are usually peroxide and ammonia, and they can TOAST a wool rug if you are not careful.

We tell our clients that ALL pet urine stains are permanent, but that we can remove the odor. If we can get the stains better, great, but many that is not possible, especially with all of the chemically washed rugs out there. Pet urine goes on hot and acidic, and essentially re-dyes the fibers and sets them at the same time - it is the worst thing to happen to a wool rug.

    Be careful,
    Lisa
