What Would the Rug Chick Do?

I arrived on a job site today to clean 2 bedrooms, Living room and hallway.

Out of nowhere the customer drags these area rugs into the living room and asks if I could clean them too.

Immediatly I thought to myself "what would the Rug Chick do?".

    I don't know.

So, i went ahead and vacuumed, pre-conditioned, HWE and deodorized them. Afterwards, i hung em over a wall to dry.

I charged an aditional 60 bucks for all five and took less than 25 minutes.

I wonder what the Rug Chick would have done? What steps, procedures, and chemicals would she use? How much would she charge?

Would anyone have handled these rugs any different?

Mee too; Walmart rugs are easy money. When they pul Orientals of high quality then we usually take a finders fee and drop them off to my rug guy.

Rickie's right - if they are throw rugs, cheap ones, not natural fiber, you can surface clean. If you took 25 minutes for all 5 - you aren't really doing much at all but freshening them up.

If these rugs came to us in our plant - and they wanted to pay to have them washed - then we would have charged $4 per square foot.

    We would:
    1) ID the fiber
    2) Dye test
    3) Evaluate construction type and pre-existing conditions
    4) Use solutions specific for the fiber type (natural versus synthetic) and dye stability (acid stabilization or none needed)
    5) Dusted the rug thoroughly
    6) Washed
    7) Rinsed
    8) Wringer (or extraction for you all)
    9) Drying
    10) Touchup on fringe if needed, and grooming

Delivered back (delivery fee applies) or called to come pick up.

That is what the rug chick would do.

yeah .... i think the carpet cleaning would pass up too much money to say no to the Walmat type rugs.... I always tell them theres a better way to clean them but it is more costly and most dont want to pay to have it cleaned at the shop....... now its its a rug with a high value (what ever you decide that is) i would tell them no most likley .... i always tell them that I am really just freshing them up ... not really cable of doing a great job..... just the best i can with the condtions i am given......
