    HANG that rug!

There are a host of some simpler repairs/services to offer your clients even if you are not a full-fledged repair specialist or weaver ... one is preparing rugs for hanging.

Before you go grab that GLUE GUN or STAPLE GUN - instead go grab some VELCRO:

We charge $15 a linear foot for this service. Needs to be done by hand.

Tackstrip works well also and it's easier.

Tackstrip is easier - but not better for the rug ... but I know you know that. Especially with a silk rug - or a Navajo weaving - the tacks can break and pull fibers ... or nick your finger and get BLOOD on the piece.

Thanks John and Dave for posting!

You could poke your finger with the sewing nettle, getting blood on the rug also. lol

Be careful & take precautions and it should not be a problem!

Im a little confused by the picture and the term "preparing for hanging".
Im seeing velcro strip staple-gunned to a linoleum or "click flooring" type floor.
If so, I cant see many customers wanting me to do this.

Is this rug being hung or fastened securely to hard flooring?

Richard - sorry, I thought it was clear that this rug is laying on a table and not up on the wall. I was getting a shot of the work, not the mounting ... guess that could be confusing.

The velcro strip is stapled to a plank of wood (baseboard works nice) and then you hand sew the other piece to the rug itself (instructions for this can be found on the link on hanging rugs at www.TheRugChick.com that takes you to the Textile Museum site - they have a nice how-to piece on this.)

The board is then mounted to the wall. We provide the velcro and the wood - but NOT the mounting (too much risk there) ... we refer a handyman company for that.

    Hope that answers your questions!
