I am going to look at a warehouse tomorrow to rent out some space for my business and also to build a rug plant.
What is ideal for having some rug badger equipment and cleaning up to 20 area rugs a week starting out?

We started with 2000 sq ft. If you are surface cleaning (not immersion cleaning ) you can get away with less.
There is no one right answer here ... you can make any size work if you plan the work flow correctly ... I've had students go big, and ones operate out of their garage or basement. We have 9500 sq ft now ... but there are plants that are tens of thousands of sq ft as well.
What you need to know is HOW MANY rugs do you have waiting to clean to pay your rent or lease BEFORE you even open your doors. You need a waiting list otherwise you will dig a BIG hole in equipment and building costs when your door opens, and you will spend all year trying to dig yourself out of that hole. It's the most common mistake I see new rug cleaners make - and why many do not succeed.
You need to be smart with your money, and build demand for the service before you open up - that's the smart biz move.

Hmmmmmm...... Sounds like someone is thinking of opening a rug cleaning plant with all these rug questions. Go for it!

When we started out my first rug cleaning plant was about 1500 sq.ft.. If you send me how much room you have available, I can try to configure - an outline for you.
