    Help me with this problem!

    Hi Lisa,

Customer has a wool carpet. Huge round pink stain in one area. Looks like something dyed into it. How do I get it out? Customer is really concerned and she doesn't want it cleaned - just that part out - any tips?

Thanks for your help and any suggestions.

There is red out made for wool carpet. Look into that. Sometimes works but not always, so don't promise anything. Good luck.

As Bill said I would try some Red Relief for Wool... Try it on a small area and see if their is any change.

Can you post a pic? Sounds like a wet spot made the colors run to me, but not sure till I can look at it.
With wool I wouldnt get your hopes up when it comes to brightly colored stains.

I'm with Richard. Post a pic of the prob and good pics of the rug so we can know what the construction and fiber type are.

Here's the picture - the customer says the stain is not from the rug but something that was placed on it that dyed through so if that helps - thanks in advanced

Ok, red is bled. Now what type of fiber and construction is this rug?

That red stain came from the rug itself of I am a monkeys uncle. Looks like the infamous plant leaking onto the rug and causing bleeding. How does the back of the rug look. Do you have a pic of the back, this will also help with ID.
Masterblend has some very good products for red removal on Wool.
A stain like this should only be performed by someone with advanced
    training in natural fiber rugs.

Looks like it came from the rug to me too.... Notice how it is darker by the red dyes?

Re: Help me with this problem!

Yeah - this is a bled rug, not a stain. You need to get a release on any work that you do - because with this type of Persian rug it may go south on you with too many chemicals.

Have you cleaned it yet? If not, how do you plan to clean it now that you know it is a bleeder?

If you are simply working on this one area only - then I would recommend the Masterblend dye remover for wool. I personally do not use it as strong as directed. Stripping color can easily be done too much, and create a bad result. I apply it with a paint brush in STRIPS so if there is color variation it looks more like abrash ... and with a small brush you can get around the other colors because I've seen MB too often pull color from neighboring colors and turn reds to orange, etc. So you put it only on the white.

If you can make it 50% better, it will be a big improvement. If you do one small strip (maybe half and inch wide and across the area) and it looks bad - look from BOTH directions to determine this - then stop. If she likes it, give her a bid for the rest.

If you are too frightened by possibly making it worse - then turn it away.
