Question How much to pay a sub for rug cleaning?

I clean most all my own area rugs. But I do have about 6 specialty rug cleaning shops here in Tidewater. I have thought about approaching one some day but I'm in no hurry because I have a lot of experoience and of course we have Lisa.

But I know that Lisa and other rug guys have recommended using a specialty shop to clean. So I would like to know a few things before I head out.

    1) What do you say when you approach them?

    2) How much is a fair charge to pay the sub?

    3) What do we look for in a sub?

    4) Do you tell the customer that you are subbing it out?

    5) Should you mark your price up higher when working with subs?

    6) What should you charge the customer?

    Thanks

    Rob

    Hi Rob,
We have a Cleaning Company program and do rug cleaning for many companies at our facility. If you call Lorie or Danny at the plant (333-1010) they can give you the details. Basically we charge half our normal rate. So that is about $70 cents per square foot for the cleaning and then other options such Scotch guard are about .25 cents Sq Ft. and Urine extraction is $1.00 Sq ft. We have other options available.

Thanks! Sara (For Mark Gonsenhauser Rugs)

Re: How much to pay a sub for rug cleaning?

Any plant that offers industry rates will give you that rate - then you determine what you want to add on top of it. The only thing I ask those who subcontract to us (we only do so with about 12 companies who fit our criteria of a "great" wholesale relationship) is that they do not advertise a price that is lower than ours.
